Growing Up Boulder
Growing Up Boulder is a “child-and-youth-friendly city” initiative that began in the spring of 2009 as a partnership among the University of Colorado, the City of Boulder, the Boulder Valley School District, former State Senator Dorothy Rupert, local nonprofits and businesses, and middle- and high-school youth. Child-and youth friendly- cities are locales in which children’s rights are reflected in local policies, laws, programs and budgets. While Boulder already does much to support its children and youth, there is still work to be done. To learn more about the work that Growing Up Boulder has done with young people to address their needs, click here.
New Youth Engagement Resources
Growing Up Boulder just hosted an exciting workshop about youth participation in Boulder (more information coming soon. . .). If you are interested in Barry Percy-Smith's work, we have posted some great articles about youth engagement. You can find these in the Youth Engagement Resources folder in the Navigation toolbar to the right. Barry also recommended this site: http://www.participationworks.org.uk/

What is the Children and Youth Bill of Rights Project in Boulder?
The children and youth bill of rights curriculum will help us figure out if children and youth want to create a children and youth bill or rights (CYBOR) for the City of Boulder. Before doing that, however, young people need to know what a CYBOR is! Many cities throughout the world use a CYBOR as a guide to make their cities more child- and youth-friendly. If a bill of rights is developed by children and youth and supported by the adults in the community, it can lead to real and positive change.
